David Foley
David’s passion for the outdoors has seen him lead varied sailing and mountainous activities in the UK and beyond. His interest is sharing the personal and professional development opportunities that these activities offer, and helping people transfer these to their daily lives. His emphasis with those he works with is the enjoyment of meeting a challenge, effective team working, and maintaining a sense of humour in adversity.
David is a qualified yacht sailing instructor and commercial skipper. He has broad experience of mountain leadership and instruction drawn from work with youth groups and the military. He is also a business psychologist, with a particular interest in leadership, team working and performance.
Jo Clifton
I have worked for more than twenty years in the field of organisation development and human resources, operating for over sixteen years at board level in a variety of private, public and voluntary sector organisations. I am commercially focussed and motivated by the desire to improve organisational performance through effective people management.
I have experience of strategy development, start-ups, mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring; including redundancies, outsourcing, shared services and closures. I have played a lead role in improving organisational efficiency, increasing profits/surplus and enhancing loyalty to an organisation through leadership development and engagement strategies.
I have senior management and consulting experience in a range of high profile, politically sensitive, unionised and non-unionised organisations, from dynamic start-ups employing less than 500 staff, to large multi-site and international companies employing over 40,000.
I have a Master’s in strategic HRM, a Diploma in advanced executive coaching and am an accredited Myers Briggs (MBTI) practitioner.
Ian Bartlett
Ian´s career in professional sailing has seen him clock over 100,000 nautical miles, normally leading the team as skipper and often working with amateur crews who have little or no sailing experience. Ian has trained and raced with crews in numerous events, including the Fastnet, ARC (trans-atlantic) and Cowes week. On the water, his emphasis is the importance of teamwork and enjoyment, as these combined tend to lead to successful events.
Ian also has extensive cruising experience, which has lead him to a detailed knowledge of the Caribbean, areas of Northern Europe, including Norway and Sweden, as well as UK waters.
Whilst still regularly sailing, Ian´s love of all things outdoors has lead him to Spain, where he is currently rebuilding a trekking lodge in the mountains just outside Alicante.
Seb Rees
Seb is a qualified UK Mountain Leader and is accredited as a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management. Through 20 years as a Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award Holder, Leader and Assessor Seb is passionate about providing high quality learning, development and team bonding experiences through outdoor adventure.
Seb has spent the last 25 years running businesses in the Corporate & Education Travel and Events sectors for which he has won Outstanding Business Person of the Year Awards. Seb is also keen amateur sailor, medical responder and advanced motorcyclist but is never more in his element than when out on the hill with a group.
